Twitter (finally) adds Edit Tweet feature

September 14, 2022

On September 1st, 2022 Twitter began rolling out its most anticipated and requested feature: Edit Tweet. The feature is currently only available for internal testing but Twitter Blue subscribers in specific regions will get the first opportunity to test it publicly. Twitter intended to monitor user behavior before finalizing the feature for a full public rollout.

Update: According to Casey Newton the Edit Tweet feature will be publicly available for testing in New Zealand for Twitter Blue subscribers on September 21, 2022.

Edit Tweet lets users do exactly that, but not without some limits:

  • Edits can only be made within 30 minutes from the time of posting
  • Tweets can only be edited 5 times in that 30-minute window

The idea is to provide enough time to fix typos, add missing media files, and include hashtags that might have been missed.

Meta publishes their must-read guide for signal resiliency

September 13, 2022

Meta has released a guide to help brands adjust their advertising strategies in response to Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) update. The update allows iOS users to opt out of data tracking across 3rd-party applications.

Launched on April 26th, 2021, the ATT update has had a direct impact on Meta’s ability to use user data to serve targeted ads on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

In response, Meta commissioned its 2022 Signal Resiliency Guide. “Signal resiliency” is Meta’s way of saying “how to target your ads with less data collected from 3rd party apps”. The guide will help social media marketers adjust their strategies for this brave new world of online data privacy.

New Shuffles app by Pinterest takes interactivity to the next level

August 24, 2022

Pinterest has launched Shuffles, a tool for creating interactive collages and moodboards on iOS. Is this new, invite-only (for now) app the next great social media platform, or just a tool for brands and Pinterest creators?

Pinterest snuck Shuffles onto the App Store in early August 2022. Despite the lack of fanfare, the “new app designed for collective collaging” is already gaining popularity and has a long waitlist of eager users.

Shuffles is fully integrated with Pinterest and has everything expected from a social media platform, including a content feed, likes, hashtags, and a search bar. What makes Shuffles different is its interactive collage-making functionality.
